The Department of Labour
Workplace Health and Safety is a service of the Department of Labour that helps workplaces stay safe and healthy, so they can keep working successfully.
The Department’s work
- Prevent harm to people at work or in places of work
- Help workplaces be safe and healthy
- Visit workplaces and investigate serious accidents
- Enforce the law about health and safety and hazardous substances in workplaces
ACC and The Department work together to keep New Zealanders healthy and safe. They work with high-risk industries, with individual employers and with accident victims to make sure that New Zealand can learn from experience and become a safer, healthier place to live.
